Giniling na Baka at Sitaw (Filipino-style Ground Beef & Snake Beans)

I’ve been cooking this dish since I was a teenager not knowing what it was called or that there was even a name for it. I kinda made it up based on other Filipino and Chinese dishes I knew how to cook. Just this week I realized it’s really a Filipino dish. 🇵🇭

Here’s my simple recipe.

Ingredients

* 3 cloves garlic, chopped
* 2 scallions, chopped
* ½ cup tomatoes, chopped
* ¾ lb ground beef
* ¼ cup soy sauce (can also use gluten-free soy sauce)
* ½ cup water
* 1 bunch Sitaw (aka Snake Beans), cut into 2’’ long (string beans can also be used)
* Pepper, to taste

Directions

1. Warm up wok over high heat. Add ground beef. I don’t use oil because the beef will provide enough.
2. When browned, scoop beef to the side of the wok to make a well. Add garlic and scallion. Cook for 1 min.
3. Add the tomatoes and cook for 3-5 minutes or until the tomatoes becomes tender.
4. Throw in the snake beans and toss it them through, simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Pour the soy sauce and water and simmer the dish for another 5 minutes.
6. Add pepper.
7. Serve with hot white rice

Save this recipe and cook it. Let me know how it turns out!
