Review: Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce

I first discovered Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce at the Wilton Stop & Shop. I was drawn to the name “Lola” which means Grandmother in the Philippines. My children call my mom Lola. I didn’t know the backstory to the brand, so I bought 2 bottles – Trinidad Scorpion and Original.

They were so delicious, I finished them in 2 weeks. Yep, that’s a lot of hot sauce. If I’m not using “sawsawan” (Filipino dipping sauce), I’m using hot sauce in my dishes.

Curious about the brand, I checked out their website and learned Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce is made using a simple recipe from Lola’s (Carmelita Shah) family in the Philippines.

Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce

Her son, Taufeek Shah, is the driving force behind the success. The hot sauce was first shared with friends and family, then debuted at the Des Moines Farmers Market in 2016. Fast forward to today, you’ll find Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce at big retailers like Lowe’s and Stop & Shop.  Lola’s was also recently named one of the best new products in America with the Lowe’s executive team and Shark Tank investor, Daymond John.

Lola’s sells 8 flavors of hot sauce, seasonings, and mixers on their website. While they’re not all available here in CT, you can order them on their site. Lola’s gifted me a variety pack so I could try more of their flavors. I highly recommend the Trinidad Scorpion and Ghost Pepper. They are hot!
