Sunday Brunch at SoNo Baking Company & Café

SoNo Baking Company & Café is one of our favorite places to eat for Sunday brunch. The café is a neighborhood gem in South Norwalk serving delicious pastries and fresh baked breads made fresh daily in a renovated 3,600 sq. ft. former warehouse. The open kitchen and bakery provides a view of hearth bread being baked in a deck oven imported from Italy, gorgeous cakes being decorated, and delicate pastries being carefully constructed – all on display for guests to see.  In warmer months, they have tables set up outside.

Their Sunday brunch menu features a Frittata of the day, Quiche of the day, SoNo Eggs Benedict, SoNo Angus Cheeseburger, and two salads in addition to their regular breakfast menu. My go-to is their frittata which comes with a side lightly dressed greens.

You can’t go wrong with any of their breakfast items. Any of their egg dishes are excellent – from the classic SoNo Egg Sandwich to their Omelet of the Day. Their Brioche French Toast stuffed with vanilla pastry cream is perfect for the sweet tooth.  On the healthier side, the we recommend Nola’s Granola – house made granola baked with organic maple syrup served with vanilla yogurt and topped with fresh fruit.

Their lunch menu includes a selection of sandwiches and salads. Our favorite sandwich is the SoNo B.L.T. Club with roast turkey, all-natural baked ham, avocado, all-natural bacon, lettuce, tomato, mustard mayo, served on SoNo sourdough bread and a side salad.

We highly recommend grabbing a few pastries to go, like the Apple Almond Tart, or one of their delicious Trail Mix Cookies.

In 2014 SoNo Baking Company opened a second café in Darien. Both cafés features specialty coffee drinks and a seasonal breakfast and lunch menu which includes Connecticut farm fresh egg omelets; grilled all natural chicken panini with bûcheron goat cheese, spinach, sundried tomatoes, olive tapenade, on country white bread; and more.

SoNo Baking Company is a strong supporter and fixture on the local Famers’ Market scene and their bread and pastries can also be enjoyed at Fairfield County’s finest restaurants and markets.
