Figs with Balsamic Reduction and Fleur de Sel

At the end of summer, varieties of figs appear at the markets. My favorite is Black Mission Figs. They are delicious eaten raw or grilled and dressed with a orange balsamic glaze and goat cheese.

Today, I decided to bring them to a beach picnic. Considering some may not like goat cheese, I served them raw with a mason jar of balsamic reduction. Delicious. Easy to make. Prep to plating is less than 15 minutes.

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan bring balsamic vinegar, honey, a pinch of sea salt and freshly ground pepper to a low boil and cook down the vinegar until it becomes a thin syrup (about 10 minutes).
  2. Wash and cut figs in half. Place on serving plate. Sprinkle Fluer de Sel on top and drizzle with the balsamic reduction.
