Brunch at Fresh Salt at Saybrook Point Inn, Old Saybrook, Connecticut

Fresh Salt at Saybrook Point Inn offers casual fine dining and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Diners will be pleased with their food and the breathtaking views of the Long Island Sound. Their chefs utilize fresh and seasonal local ingredients from the sea, land, and soil.

Connecticut Magazine has named Fresh Salt as one of the state’s restaurants for “The Best Sunday Brunch” for 2016 and one of the “Top 25 Most Gorgeous & Delicious Outdoor Dining Spots in Connecticut.” When we spent the weekend at Saybrook Point Inn last month, we made sure we had reservations.

The Setup
Down the hall from the restaurant are two meeting rooms that house various stations of food where diners can choose from a delicious selection of pastries, egg dishes, pancakes and waffles, hot entrees and desserts for a sweet ending.

The Food
In the “breakfast” room, you’ll find an omelet station with eggs benedict, crispy bacon, and sausage; a pancake station with add-ins like chocolate chips, berries, fresh whipped cream, and nutella; a seafood station with cocktail shrimp, smoked salmon and more; and a tables filled with plates and bowls of fruit, salads, antipasti, bagels, pastries, and more.

The other meeting room features the “lunch” items like cod provencal, eggplant lasagna, and vegetable dishes; a pasta station; a carving station with prime rib and other cuts of meat, and a dessert table.

Thoughts
Delicious and filling. We made many rounds to fill our plates. But those waffles – gotta try them. You can’t have just one. Prices for regular Sunday brunch are Adults $39.95; Children 5-12 $19.95; Children under 5 complimentary. Well worth it.

For Father’s Day (Sunday, June 19), Fresh Salt is celebrating with a hearty feast which features a Slider Bar, Artisan Barbecue Station with Memphis-Style Beef Brisket, Barbecue Hand-Pulled Pork on an Onion Brioche Roll, along with an Over The Top Ice Cream Sundae Bar. Seating for the Father’s Day brunch at Saybrook Point begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 1:45 p.m. Reservations are advised, as this is a perennial holiday favorite for New Englanders, and may be made by calling 860-339-1318.  The cost is $45.95 for adults, $23.95 for children ages 5 – 12, and complimentary for kids under 4-years-of-age.
