Best Global Eats 2015

Veal Milanese at Vespa, Westport, CT

Veal Milanese

Continuing our annual tradition (going strong since 2011), we’ve compiled a list of the best eats we’ve had in 2015. We haven’t traveled to as many countries as we’ve done in the past, but we’ve still managed to dine at many new restaurants both closer to home and abroad, as well as our all-time favorites.

Here’s a list of what resonates as the best global eats in 2015:

Best Belgian Food
Markt, NYC
Remains on the top of our list for years. This is our go-to for the best moules frites and croque madames in NYC. They have a great Belgian beer selection available on tap and by the bottle, with the glass to match.

Best Breakfast
Granola Bar, Westport, CT
My go-to after a workout at Pure Barre, I often get a Wake Up smoothie (Espresso, banana, house made almond butter, almond milk) and their blueberry chia muffin then run for another 1.5 miles.

Granola Bar Westport

Best Sunday Brunch
Castle Hill Inn, Newport, RI

Maine Lobster and Potato Hash

Best Burger
Bareburger, NYC and CT
Who needs beef when you can try burgers made with wild boar, elk, and more game. Oh, don’t forget to try their onion rings. Crunch! They are colossal and extra crispy.

Best Dim Sum
Nom Wah Tea Parlor, New York City
NYC Chinatown’s first dim sum joint. Depending on the time you go, there may be a line. It’s popular amongst locals, and tourists. Whenever we’re in Chinatown, we make sure we stop there.

Best Farm to Table Restaurant
Parallel Post, Trumbull, Connecticut
Try their Sunday brunch, or come for dinner. Their food, and cocktails, are amazing. We also enjoyed Thanksgiving here, and that might turn into a tradition.

Norman Bloom Clams BLT, Smoked Benton’s Bacon, Grilled Romaine, Spicy Tomato Broth

Best French Bistro
Bistro V & Pâtisserie, Greenwich, CT
The food and pastries at Bistro V are excellent. Whatever you decide to order, make sure you save room for their moules frites.

Hudson Valley Duck Breast

Best Italian
Vespa, Westport, CT
The best dish we’ve had at Vespa is the Veal Milanese – a tender, fried cutlet of veal topped with a salad of baby arugula, onion, watermelon radish, and Parmigiano.

Best Panini
Tarry Market, Port Chester, New York – Try their prime rib or porchetta panini
Eataly Rosticceria, NYC – Prime rib panini is available daily and the porchetta panini is served on Thursdays

Best Pizza
Amore Cucina and Bar, Stamford, CT
Amore Cucina & Bar features two styles of pizza – round and square – cooked in their900 degree Cirigliano wood burning oven. We’ve tried half of their dozen pizza creations, and all were fantastic. Check out what else Amore has to offer in our review.

For The Queen

Best Restaurant with a View
1609 Restaurant, Hamilton, Bermuda
Beautiful views of the harbour, great drinks, and delicious food are components of a great dining experience, especially when on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious their Cioppino was.

Cioppino

Best Steakhouse
Benjamin Steakhouse, White Plains, New York
Still our favorite steakhouse. Matter of fact, we were there a few days ago enjoying perfectly cooked lamb chops and rib eyes.

Benjamin Steakhouse Porterhouse for 2

Best Tapas
Barcelona Wine Bar, various locations in Connecticut, Atlanta, and D.C.
We’ve gone to a few of their locations, and their tapas are the best. Our usuals are the albondigas, Gambas al Ajillo (Shrimp in Garlic), and cod a la plancha. Each location has unique tapas created by their executive chefs.

Hamachi Crudo

Best Vegan Food
Blossom du Jour, 5 locations in New York City
I’ve ordered the Power Up Kale so many times, but their sandwiches are fantastic. Try the Smokey Avocado Wrap or Black Bean Burger. Their smoothies are good too.
