My Favorite Dishes at the Taste of Stamford 2014

Meatball Sliders

On February 27th, I attended the 21st Annual Taste of Stamford, sponsored by the Stamford Chamber of Commerce. At the event, guests had the chance to sample fine cuisine, wine and spirits from Stamford’s premier establishments.

Sliders
Couldn’t get enough of them. Three restaurants served amazing sliders – Cask Republic served Pork Confit Sliders, Rizzuto’s Italian Kitchen had Meatball Sliders, and Dinosaur BBQ whipped up Beef Brisket Sliders on a potato roll with pickled onion and jalapeño relish.

Meatballs
There were lots of sliders, and meatballs tool. Tabouli Grill presented Turkey Meatball Tagine with Cous Cous and assorted Middle Eastern Salads and napa & co. served spiced lamb meatballs with mint-cumin-yogurt sauce.

Among Tabouli Grill’s offerings was their delicious spinach pie

Tacos Anyone?
David’s Soundview Catering set up a fun taco Taco Bar where guests build their own tacos by choosing either Pollo Cilantro (grilled chicken) or Camarones Mexicano (spiced sauteed shrimp) and topping them with an assortment of accompaniments from guacamole, pico de gallo, onions, bell peppers, and don’t forget the queso.

Pasta Dishes
Stamford has a lot of Italian restaurants, and plenty were present at the Taste of Stamford. My favorite pasta dish was from Olio. They served homemade Cavatelli Bolognese topped with fresh arugula. Each savory bite had me wanting more.

I see food…Seafood
A great addition to the Stamford dining scene is FISH Restaurant + Bar. At the event they served Steamed Curry PEI Mussels. A fantastic dish to lure you to their restaurant. 😉

Got Steak?
The Capital Grille remains my favorite restaurant for steak in Stamford. At the event, they had samples of two of their best dishes – Kona-Crusted Filet Mignon and Lobster Mac n Cheese. Also present was Morton’s The Steakhouse with their Sliced Filet Mignon and The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s served Seared Angus Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Salad.

Got a sweet tooth?
There were plenty of desserts to sample – from gelato from Volta Gelateria Creperia, chocolate mousse from Morton’s The Steakhouse, and an assortment of Italian pastries from DiMare Pastry. DiMare had the best display with tons of treats to try. Their Cannoli Nachos are the newest craze in their bakery. These dessert nachos are Cannoli shells shaped like nachos an edible chocolate dipped bowl filled with Cannoli cream!

Wine Tasting and Cocktail Sipping
While there was plenty of food to taste, there was also plenty of drinks to try. While we have a small selection of wine from 90+ Cellars in our wine fridge, I realized I didn’t have any bottles of their white wine so I tried a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc, a smooth, crisp wine from New Zealand.

napa & co. served a delicious Sparkling St. Germain Punch along with their amazing spiced lamb meatballs.

If you went to the Taste of Stamford, tell us what you liked. If you didn’t go, be on the lookout for next year’s event. With this year’s prices set at $50 Pre-Paid and $60 at the door, it was the perfect opportunity to try what Stamford has to offer.
