Sunday Brunch at The Breakers Palm Beach

When we asked our friends what was the best place for Sunday brunch in Palm Beach, the top response was The Breakers. Every Sunday at The Circle, this elaborate – and expensive – brunch buffet offers an extensive menu from lobster to caviar to lamb chops and an amazing display of 30 desserts to savor.

The experience started as we cruised down a long driveway lined with rows of palm trees. We were silent as we marveled in the beautiful landscaping and the hotel. When we stepped through the doors of the ritzy 500-room hotel, I felt like I was back at the mansions in Newport (where we vacationed a month prior).

Upon entering the hotel, you are greeted by a view of the Italian-inspired courtyard accessible through sets of glass doors. To your left and right are long hallways which lead to the wings of the building where you can access boutiques and seven restaurants. The architecture was inspired by the Great Hall of the Palazzo Carega in Genoa.

After walking around in amazement we finally arrived at The Circle. We were escorted to our table in a room with soaring 30-foot hand-painted high ceilings and views of the Atlantic Ocean. I ordered a Bloody Mary while Jay had a Mimosa.

There were several food stations outside of the dining room. I couldn’t help but look at the dessert station when grabbing my plate. First station: roasted meats. From perfectly roasted chicken to juicy prime roast, there was an endless supply available. Flanking it was the sushi bar with a variety of rolls prepared by their sushi chefs. My favorite section was the raw bar where piles of lobster claws and tails, jumbo shrimp and stone crab legs rest over a bed of ice. If you fancy some caviar, they’ve got that too. While the mimosas are flowing, you might as well indulge a little.

The baby lamb chops were excellent. They were pan fried then served in a delicious au jus. The meat was tender and flavorful. Also available were pasta, fish, Asian-inspired dishes, and classic breakfast items like omelets, waffles and pancakes.

While the harpists was making his rounds stopping at every table in the room, we stocked up on desserts. From cakes to truffles to crème brûlée to crépes, there’s a dessert for everyone. Stuffed from all the lamb chops and seafood, I only had a chance to try a few. I loved the macarons and fruit tarts.

Sunday Brunch at The Circle is $95 per person plus tax and service charge. Children ages 3-11 are $45 plus tax and service charge. Children under 3 are complimentary.

I’d say the brunch was worth the price. You can practically eat here for hours. We were there for almost three hours. The service is excellent.
