Celebrating Jay’s Birthday at Benjamin’s Steakhouse in White Plains

We decided to celebrate Jay’s birthday at his favorite steakhouse in Westchester — Benjamin Steakhouse in White Plains. Jay dines here frequently but that didn’t stop him from picking Benjamin’s. Benjamin’s has an extensive menu that is sure to please everyone – from fresh seafood to juicy cuts of meat.

Seated in one of their burgundy leather booths, we ordered our favorites. For starters, we had the Extra Thick Canadian Bacon, Baked Clams, and Jumbo Lump Crab Meat. Ordering the bacon is a must. About half an inch thick, the bacon is lean with little marbling. It tastes great alone or dipped in Benjamin’s steak sauce. You can easily get full off of one piece, so save some for when the main course comes to the table.

The jumbo lump crab meat cocktail is another favorite. Served on a plate of ice in a radicchio leaf are big chunks of fresh crab meat with a side of cocktail sauce.

The baked clams is another great item to whet your appetite. In an order, you’ll get half a dozen Little Neck clams baked with herbed breadcrumbs.

For the main course, we enjoyed Porterhouse for Two with cottage fries, onion rings and asparagus. The Porterhouse steak was perfectly cooked – medium temperature and the right amount of char. The cottage fries were large, thick and crispy potato chips. The crunchy asparagus was a nice alternative to our usual creamed spinach.

For dessert, we had Jay’s favorite dessert at Benjamin’s – the Apple Strudel with homemade schlag (whipped cream). The warm apple strudel was made with sweet, tender apples wrapped with crisp sheets of phyllo dough. Paired with a double espresso, this was a perfect way to end a meal.

As always, dining at Benjamin’s is an excellent experience. Jay dines here often and always has something positive to say, which I’ll admit, makes me envious. Benjamin’s is great for entertaining clients, dining with friends and family, or for special occasions.

If you haven’t dined at at this steakhouse, take advantage of the upcoming Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. From November 4-17, Benjamin Steakhouse will serve prix fixe lunches at $20.95 and $29.95 dinners.

The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday-Thursday from 4pm to 10pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm to 11pm, Sunday brunch from noon to 3.30pm. Closed on Monday.
