Stamford Restaurant Weeks Winter 2012: The Capital Grille

We dine at The Capital Grille every month, and the service is always great, the food is excellent, and the experience is what you expect from a steakhouse. If you haven’t dined here yet, we recommend stopping by during Restaurant Week to take advantage of the special prix fixe menu – a great deal, especially for the quantity and quality of food you get. Lunch is priced at $20.12, and Dinner is $30.12.

For starters, we had the clam chowder, which was served in a small cup filled with chunks of potato and clams. Always a hit whenever we come here.

I tried the Parmesan and Herb Marinated Tournedos. Tournedos are the central portion of the beef tenderloin. Served medium, upon my request, the meat was tender and had a great char. My husband had his usual restaurant week pick: the Kona-crusted sirloin, another great item off the menu. The filet mignon is also an excellent entrée to try.

The sides are about half the portion size of what you’d normally get off the regular menu, but it’s enough to keep you satisfied. We didn’t even get to finish them. The mashed potatoes were perfect with chunks of potato and the right amount of butter. The creamed spinach was savory, and not too heavy.

For dessert, we went for our favorite treat: the Classic Crème Brûlée a smooth, rich vanilla custard with a crisp caramelized top.

As always, an excellent dining experience. Be sure to make your reservations soon, as there is only one week of Stamford Restaurant Week left. To see the full menu, visit connecticutrestaurantweek.com.
