Update 3/12 – Rodizio Grill will be opening on Saturday, March 17th.

A Brazilian restaurant will be added to Stamford’s diverse selection of ethnic eateries. Rodizio Grill has taken over the former 7,100 square foot location of Houlihan’s, located on 5 Broad Street in downtown Stamford, beneath Target. We’ve been told they’re shooting for an opening date of March 1517th, 2012.

Rodizio Grill is an authentic Brazilian Steakhouse, the original in the United States. The Salt Lake City-based chain was founded by Ivan Utrera, who brought family recipes from Brazil and began this award winning concept.

Rodizio Grill offers over a dozen rotisserie grilled meats, perfectly seasoned and carved tableside by Brazilian Gauchos, as well as a slew of authentic Brazilian appetizers, salads, homemade desserts and their very own made-to-order Rodizio Limeades. We’ve had Brazilian many times before (especially when we hit Little Brasil in NYC), and we’re looking forward to their opening.

The new restaurant is owned by the same people who brought the Melting Pot restaurant to the area: James Layfield, tristate area franchisee for Melting Pot Restaurants, along with Edward Zislis, Renee Torres and Basel Al-Nammari, owners of other Melting Pot locations.

Rodizio Grill will also open locations in in Maple Grove, Minnesota and Braintree, Massachusetts in Spring 2012.
