Shake Shack now serves Westport, CT

Shake Shack, one of my favorite NYC burger chains, opened in Westport, CT last Wednesday. As I expected, there was a long line of customers, but not as long as the one that started it all – at Madison Square Park. The parking lot was full, and drivers were instructed to park their cars across the street. That didn’t stop waves of people from coming in.

Instead of getting my usual, I decided to try the Shack-cago dog and the Sasco ‘Crete. The Shack-cago dog is a Vienna all-beef dog on a potato bun, topped with mustard, Rick’s Picks Shake Shack relish, onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper and celery salt. All the flavors in this Chicago-style hot dog made a perfect marriage. I enjoyed every bite – and each bite had quite a kick from the sport peppers.

As much as I love Shack Shack’s Black and White Milkshake, I had to try a concrete.

What’s a concrete?
A concrete is a type of milkshake that is so thick that if you turn it upside down, the contents won’t spill out of the cup.

The Sasco ‘Crete is a concrete milkshake sold only at the Wesport location. It is vanilla custard and a slice of seasonal, locally baked pie. Lucky me, it was made with blueberry pie (I just spent my afternoon blueberry picking). No, I didn’t do the concrete test, especially since I had huge chunks of blueberry pie crust waiting to be consumed. Delicious, and thick I’ve found my new addiction. On a side note, a portion of Sasco ‘Crete proceeds will be donated to the Westport Arts Center – so dig in!

My other recommendations (posted previously):

In the Fairfield County area? Yes, driving to Westport and dining at Shake Shack is worth it.
