Turks and Caicos: Plunge Poolside Lounge

Plunge Poolside Lounge at the Regent Palms in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos is set up between the pool and the beach. It’s a convenient place to get a drink, or food whether on the beach, on a poolside chair, or even in the pool (they’ve got a swim-up bar).

This was the first place we dined at when we got to Turks and Caicos, and I’ll admit I wasn’t very impressed with the food, especially since we were at a Regent Hotels chain. I recommend heading to Hemingway’s at the Sands or the Veranda’s Marin if you want beach food. We tried the classic – conch fritters – which was mostly fried dough, and very little conch. The dipping sauce was mediocre – more like a ketchup and mayonnaise concoction. The chicken sandwich had very thin fillet of chicken breast – about 1 cm thick. Kudos to the prep chef who could slice a chicken breast that thing. Again, mostly carbs, and the sandwich was rather blah. The salads look okay, nothing extravagant.

On certain nights they have barbeque buffet dinners, but from what I’ve heard from other guests, it’s okay and definitely not worth the $45 per person charge.
