Fairfield, CT: Wilson’s Barbeque

Wilson’s Barbeque was the second restaurant in the state of Connecticut to be featured on Food Network’s show Guy’s Big Bite. So my foodie friend recommended we dine there together.

Wilson’s is a small restaurant with some picnic tables outside and a few tables inside. Like any other barbeque joint, you can get ribs, brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and, of course, the usual fixins. The barbecue here is good, not great. I guess I’ve been spoiled by the delicious barbeque at Blue Smoke and Hill Country in NYC.

If you’re dining with someone else, I recommend getting the 2- and 3-Meat Platters – a great deal at $19.95 for 2-meats and $21.95 for 3. On top of that, you also get two fixins, cornbread and pickles. You can choose your combination of Pulled Pork, Brisket, Sausage, Chicken and Ribs. Of all the meat here, I recommend getting the brisket, ribs, and sausage. Of all the sides on the menu, I recommend the collard greens, Mac & Cheese, or the french fries.

Yup – I’ve tried almost everything at Wilson’s – that’s the joy of eating here with a big crowd – you can pick off of everyone’s plate.
