Amsterdam: Café Het Paleis

Broccolisoep

Café Het Paleis is a cute cafe in Amsterdam that has affordable dishes on their menu, along with a great atmosphere to kick back and have a drink, or two. You can dine indoors or grab a table outside and view the canal.

On the menu are a decent selection of sandwiches, soups and salads. They also serve a teas, coffee, wine, and, of course, beer. Look at the blackboard, or ask the waiter what the soup of the day is – if it’s Broccolisoep (Broccoli soup) and you like broccoli, I highly recommend that you order it. Broccolisoep is served in a medium sized bowl with 2 pieces of multi-grain bread. The soup is the perfect consistency – not too thick, and not too watery.

Of the sandwiches, I recommend the Club Sandwich and the Proscuitto Focaccia. Portions are big, especially for Amsterdam.

Overall, the service staff is very friendly; food is great; ambiance is good. I’d recommend dining here in you’re in the area.
