Rye, NY: Le Pain Quotidien

Le Pain Quotidien (Twitter handle: @LePainQuotidien) means “the daily bread,” and that’s what this  Belgian bakery sells bread, and more. You can either dine in and order from their menu (tartines, omelettes, soups and salads) enjoying the tranquil setting. With locations throughout the US and worldwide, I stopped by the Rye, NY location for a quick snack.

Of the many gorgeous baked goods on display, I tried the Apple Pear Turnover, $2.95. Not quite what I expected: a delicate treat that was missing the main ingredients. Where were the chunks of apple and pear? The pastry was flaky and buttery, like a croissant.
The cashier recommended getting the dark, fudge brownies, but my eyes were locked on the Pistachio tart, $5.40. I love pistachios, and never saw it as a tart.
Next time I’m around, I’ll try one of their many tarts.
And now the photos of their delectable treats:
