NYC: Antique Cafe

Chicken Club Sandwich

The Antique Cafe is a quaint cafe in the Chelsea neighborhood where you find shoppes and markets that sell antiques. I’ve dined at this place for years, when they were originally located on 25th between 6th and 7th Aves. That location now is home to Blue Dog Cafe.

Back to the cafe…
A great place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee and a light meal with a friend, or solo. Service can be slow, so make sure you have more than an hour for a lunch break.

My favorites off their menu are the following:

Grilled Portobello Panino

Chicken Club Sandwich, $12
Grilled chicken breast, bacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo on sour dough, with pommes frites

– probably the best chicken club sandwich I’ve ever had. The meat was cooked well, and was very flavorful. I practically ate the whole sandwich in less than 4 minutes, cuz it was that good!

Grilled Portobello Panino, $12
Portobello Mushroom, roasted red peppers, mozzarella on foccacia with mesclun salad

Cheesecake Brownie

– not many vegetarian choices on the menu, so this is what you’ll likely order if you are.

In addition to the menu items, the Antique Cafe sells pastries and other baked goods at their counter. In the summer time, beware, flies love to swarm the area. Not a good thought, especially since there are a lot of dogs in this neighborhood. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. When I dined here last, they did have covers for each of the items. Phew!!!
