1886 Cafe and Bakery is located in the Driskill Hotel in Austin, TX. 1886 serves fresh cuisine, including breakfast, salad, soup, sandwiches, and bread.
I dined here for Sunday brunch with a colleague. I ordered the
1886 Trio Salad, $12 – curry chicken, tuna and Waldorf. I paired my salad with a Poinsettia (a fine beverage made with rose with a maraschino cherry).
Breaking down the elements:
- Curry chicken – Delicious. The curry wasn’t overwhelming, for a salad.
- The Tuna salad was like any other tuna salad.
- I’ve never had a Waldorf, but I’ll say they went a little overboard with the mayonnaise. If you dig mayo, then it may be worthwhile for you.
Overall, the salad was very filling. It was a shame I couldn’t finish it.
