Maui: Aloha Mixed Plate, Lahaina

When on vacation, I try to eat as much local food as possible. On our last day in Maui, we decided to stop by for a late lunch at Aloha Mixed Plate, a cute outdoor waterfront restaurant in Lahaina. I believe I dined at this restaurant over 7 years ago when I last visited Maui since it looked so familiar.

The menu is inexpensive – highest price item is about $13. We opted for the furikake* garlic fries – crispy fries with what seems like garlic oil, and furikake sprinkled on top. A tad bit too greasy for me, but if you have someone to share it with, go for it.

For our main course, we shared a grilled mahi mahi plate, which was supposed to served with mac salad and 2 scoop rice, but the waitress mixed up my order. She eventually gave me my rice. Phew! Nothing spectacular. I’ve had better mahi mahi elsewhere. But for $8, you can’t go wrong.

* Furikake is a Japanese condiment which typically consists of seaweed, sesame seeds, salt, and ground fish.
