Restaurant Week Winter 2009: Primehouse

Every time restaurant week comes along, I try my best to make it to at least one new restaurant. Joined by another couple, we had dinner at B.R. Guest Restaurant’s Primehouse located on the corner of 27th St and Park Avenue. Decor and ambiance we fabulous. I wouldn’t mind coming here for a happy hour. Let’s get back to the food. I’d say I wasn’t very impressed by the meal – all courses actually.

On the menu:
Appetizers
French Onion Soup – I’ve had better. Your best bet would be to go to a brasserie
Peruvian Shrimp Ceviche – Needed more flavor
Maytag Blue Cheese & Frisee Salad
Entrees
Seared Scottish Salmon
Braised Short Rib “Surf and Turf” – meat was a bit fatty; shrimp risotto flavor-lacking
Grilled Classic Fillet – not bad, but you’re better off going to another restaurant, such as Cafe Centro
Desserts
Chocolate Raspberry Torte
Creme Brulee
Winter Fruit Crisp
Sadly, I feel like I have nothing positive to say. Maybe my expectations have been set so high because I’ve had better experiences at other comparable-in-price restaurants.
