After work eats and drinks

Friday came in with freezing temps. Not a good way to bring in the weekend. What can warm a girl up? A drink at a cozy place. My friend and I went to Vanel on First, a soul spot on 1st Ave in the East Village. I had a sweetened iced tea with rum listed as “Back in Da Day.” This upscale soul spot had a great selection of items on their menu. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much of an appetite. Looking at what other diners were feasting on and the expressions on their face tells me I should go back and order some ribs, mashed potatoes, the works.

After a round of drinks, my friend and I went to the Hummus Place on St. Marks between 1st and Ave A. Off the small menu, I ordered the Hummus – Masabacha with pita and lemonaid. All for $9 – you won’t be disappointed. The hummus was served warm with chickpeas and salad. Dip your pita in, and the flavors excite your taste buds. The meal was very filling and I will definitely go back. My boyfriend dropped by to pick up my friends and I. I was supposed to take my plate to go, but the waitress picked it up before I could even ask. So we had to get something for my boyfriend to eat, so we went to Cafe Rakka just a block away. We ordered a Gyro sandwich and were on our way to the next destination – Katwalk on 35th and 5th – a cool bar/lounge with flat panels on every wall displaying either supermodels in bikinis or a baseball game. The place was perfect – not too crowded – good music – ranging from commercial hip hop to reggaeton. After sitting around for a couple of hours, we decided to meet up with one of my other friends down at the Delancey in the L.E.S. Overall, it was a night of fun, drinks, and more.
