Main Wah was my favorite Chinese takeout spot in Stamford, until they closed down because they lost their lease. Where are they now? Don’t know. So I’m looking for the replacement spot for Chinese takeout.
Okay, so what’s my criteria for good Chinese:
- friendly staff
- not greasy – I normally request my fried dishes to be drained well. It’s not often when you get them to adhere
- flavorful
- lean meat
Here are some places I’ve dined at, and my reviews (in ABC order):
- Chinese Mirch – Chinese/Indian fusion. The first time I ate here, I thought the food was great, but then again, I only had one item. After dining here again, I felt the chicken dishes were made of the same frozen chicken from the bag, but with a slightly different sauce. Maybe the lamb dishes are better.
- Panda Garden – inexpensive Chinese food located in the Bull’s Head shopping area. Meets all the above criteria. And they deliver ($15 minimum).
- Republic Grill Asian Bistro – overpriced, confused cuisine. I know they’re offering selections from various cuisines, but everything tastes the same.
